Lt. Joseph Dieterle

Lt. Dieterle is currently in charge of the Civil/Community Services Division and is tasked with overseeing and managing the daily operations of the Civil Division, Records Division, Pistol Permit Office and School Resource Officers.  Lt. Dieterle joined the Chemung County Sheriff’s Office in January of 2006, as a Deputy assigned to the Police Services Division.  During which time he was a member of the Special Services Unit.  In August of 2012, he was transferred to the Criminal Investigation Division as an Investigator.  January of 2019 he was promoted to Deputy Sheriff Lieutenant of the Road Patrol and in October, 2021 he was named Lieutenant in charge of the Civil/Community Services Division.  Lt. Dieterle is a New York State Certified Police General Topics Instructor.
